Gnomes Get Groovy

Groovy gnomesWho hasn’t wanted a gnome Daddy before? He is of course Father Christmas, Babbo Natale in Italian and in A’s current mix of the two languages his name is Daddy and he arrived today with a shy but lovable sidekick pig.

Our gnome was supposed to have arrived before Christmas but there was a local post office mix-up.  No matter, his and Pig’s arrival today helped take A’s mind off where his real Daddy was on Day 1 of #ohdaddyoh challenge as they were both carried down and shown the swing park.  Rather than an elf on the shelf, we now have a Daddy gnome on the shelf that can report back on kindness and great toddler deeds!

The felt gnomes which arrived in their own little drawstring bags are beautifully designed by Gnoramà who are based in Chieti Abruzzo, and then hand-made by a women’s group, Les Dames à la Maison in Tunisia.  Materials used are raw and natural with some embroidery, no nasty plastic bits that could be mistakenly eaten.  I think these are some of the grooviest little figures I have seen, they burst with character which made it hard to decide which to buy before Christmas.  I love their gift idea of being able to send in a photo and have a personal caricature gnome designed as a special present. Both gnome characters withstood being squashed in a lorry by A although it would be a shame for that to be their role in life!

In their literature Gnoramà talk about how their products are washable, repairable and can be recycled which gets big bonus points from me for ‘reality’ as they will be loved and played with by children. They have a gorgeous aroma, Father Christmas cloves, Pig’s is lavender not just to make them smell good but make them less attractive to moths! Recommended!
