What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary. ”
-George Bailey, It’s a Wonderful Life.
Isn’t it every child’s dream at one point to be able to lasso the moon and every parent’s wish that they could assist. For a little boy who is fascinated with the moon this mural in Azzinano acted as a great vocab builder on Day 4 #ohdaddyoh. I am hoping when A is a little older it will also make a great starting point for a bedtime story.
The mural is part of a fab collection devoted to games of the past painted onto the facades of the houses in Azzinano just outside Tossicia. There are some some 40+, with a new one added each August by a different guest artist invited from regions across Italy. The murals are in the naive style of Abruzzo’s most famous artist Annunziata Scipione who still lives in the village. The technique and zany palate makes it a perfect way to view art and social history for little eyes and there is a great village playground to finish on.
